1. |
Is the digitizer plugged into the power source and the computer, and is it turned on? |
Turn off the computer. Connect the digitizer properly and turn the power on. Turn the computer on. |
2. |
What kind of pointing device is being used? |
Does the pointing device use batteries? |
Are the batteries fresh? Note: If using a Summagrid IV or SummaSketch FX, the cursors are convertible. Try them with batteries and then with the cord (without batteries). |
If the batteries are not fresh, try changing the batteries. |
3. |
Are you getting proximity? (Tablet's power light stays on when pointing device is on the tablet's surface, and blinks when it's not.) |
Try changing the operating mode of the cursor by pressing and holding down the 0,1 and 3 buttons for three to five seconds. |
4. |
To what COM port and IRQ is the digitizer connected? Note: The digitizer can only be used in one of the following configurations:
If another device on your computer is using
the same COM port |
5. |
Are you using the correct driver for your tablet? |
6. |
Do you get the following error message when your computer starts? "CalComp Driver could not find tablet!..." This message can be disabled in the Tabletworks Control Panel by checking the "Notify when tablet not found" checkbox. |
7. |
Using the tablet, are you able to move the mouse pointer on the screen on the Windows desktop without any programs open? |
8. |
Is a modem installed in the computer? |
What COM Port and IRQ is the modem using? Note: If the modem is installed on the same COM Port or is using the same IRQ as your digitizer, the digitizer will not respond. |
9. |
Are there other internal serial devices installed on the computer? |
Does an adapter connect the tablet's I/O cable to the computer? |
Be sure that the adapter is an RS-232 Straight Through adapter---not a Null Modem Adapter. If the tablet is connected to a switch box, try connecting it directly to the computer. |
10. |
The tablet is not communicating with the computer. - The tablet may be connected to the wrong COM Port. - The COM Port may be defective. - There may be an IRQ conflict with another serial device. - The COM Ports could be labeled incorrectly on the back of the computer. Try connecting the tablet to another COM Port on the computer |
11. |
The problem is application related. Be sure that the digitizer is set up correctly for the application you are using the digitizer with. See our Knowledge Base for more troubleshooting help. |
